Athletes perform synchro kettlebell swings in box league fixture

get involved

give every box & every athlete
a clear path to compete.

We believe functional fitness deserves the same competitive structure that football, rugby, and netball have had for a century. A league. A table. A title.

The Box League is built so every gym – from the elite training centre to the unit-on-an-industrial-estate box – can affiliate, compete, and have something real to play for.
Members commit to a season, gyms build their community, and the sport gets a stage that lasts.

what to expect

2026 trial season at a glance

Six per team

Teams are made up of three male and three female athletes. A minimum of 2M + 2F must show up to fixture day, +1 athlete or supporter to judge.

Three workouts

One weightlifting, one gymnastics, one cardiovascular. We handle the programming and the same workouts run at every fixture in your division.

judging

Of your 2 resting athletes, one is the judge for your own team, the other monitors the opposition judging. Teams rotate resting athletes based on their strategy.

League Points

Clean sweep (3 wins) = 4 pts. Fixture win (2 wins) = 3 pts. Single workout win = 1 pt. Every fixture distributes exactly 4 points — the table stays mathematically clean.

The Box League is the UK’s first competitive in-person functional fitness league. Teams of 6 athletes (3 male, 3 female) represent their home gym, compete in 1.5-hour Saturday fixtures across a 7-month long season, and chase a divisional title.

No. The Box League is built for athletes of every level. The ranking scores you submit at registration determine your team’s starting division so you compete against teams of equal ability, not the regional elite.

Each athlete pays £50 administration fee (includes the management of the league, programming, and judging appeals), £12 per away fixture (7 per season), plus any bolt-on charge that your gym owner decides for members and non-members. Full pricing is confirmed upon registration submission.

Yes. Complete the registration, select “my gym isn’t listed yet” and let us know the gym name/location. Subject to their proximity to our current live regional clusters, we’ll invite them to affiliate. If they decline, we’ll help you find a participating box near you.

At affiliated boxes within your cluster. The 2026 Trial Season runs across the Home Counties. Season 1 (2027) target is to expand to five clusters nationwide. Half your team’s fixtures are home, half are away – typically within a 60-minute drive.

Each fixture is 1.5 hours of competition on a Saturday (April – October). Based on 8 teams per division, each team competes in 7 home and 7 away fixtures. We allow UNLIMITED substitutions in order to support the time commitment for all athletes.

Nothing until your teams register. Then, based on two participating teams from your gym, you host a fixture every other weekend, on average across the season (Saturdays, 1.5 hours each). We handle the programming, you time-manage the fixture and submit scoring. Request the gym owner pack.

First weekend of September 2026. Fixtures will be confirmed when registration closes at the end of July 2026.

Season 1 begins the first weekend of April 2027. Registration closes end of November 2026. Divisions and fixtures are announced January 2027.
